HERAT: Following the spread of the coronavirus in Herat, the people in the provinces have increased their mobilization against the fatal pandemic.

There are local councils and young people who are volunteering to disinfect the city.

Gul Aqa is a resident in Herat who is participating in volunteer work over the past ten days.

“If the people’s movements are less in the city, then we are able to accomplish our task in a better way. Disinfection has a good impact on fighting the virus,” said Gul Aqa, a volunteer in Herat.

“We are disinfecting parts of the city for the past ten days, including the four main entrances to Herat,” said Nematullah, a volunteer. “Cooperation among the responsible institutions helps to bring down the level of fatalities,” said Baseer Ahmad Danishyar, the head of a volunteer group in Herat.

“Concerns are increasing day-by-day, although some measures were taken by the government and the NGOs, but these efforts have not been enough to fight the virus effectively,” said Ziauddin Fazeli, a cleric in Herat.

Meanwhile, doctors in Herat again called on the people to stay home.

“The virus can remain on the surface and in the air, but the disinfection has a good impact to remove it,” said Asif Kabir, the deputy head of Herat’s health department.

“If we ignore this pandemic, we will face the situation the Western countries are facing today,” said Shamsul Haq, a doctor in Herat. (TOLOnews)
