Punjab Health Department issues Congo virus threat alert

LAHORE: Amid a rise in the cases of Congo virus, the Punjab Health Department has issued a threat alert in the province.

According to the circular, the Congo virus situation in Punjab has taken a serious turn therefore Health department directed District Health Officers to report the cases to higher authorities.

According to reports, during the next few months especially from April to July, there was a high risk of the spread of the virus. The Directorate of the CDC has directed the authorities to ensure measures to prevent Congo virus in the season.

Livestock authorities have also been directed to put cattle markets out of the residential areas. While during Eid-ul-Azha, temporary cattle markets should also be kept outside the city so that cattle can be protected from infection.
