Quetta Church attack

At least nine people were killed and 56 injured when two suicide bombers stormed a Christian church in Quetta. Police guards standing at the entrance and roof top killed one of the bombers but the second attacker detonated his explosive filled vest-court outside the prayer hall of the church after Sunday Service began. In all 400 hundred worshipers were present there. Daesh has claimed the responsibility of the attack.

The ruling PML-N leaders boast day in and day out of eradicating terrorism from the country by shutting their eyes to the deadly terrorist attacks that occur frequently in the provinces of Baluchistan, Sindh, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). Perhaps in the eyes of PML-N leadership the relatively at peace Punjab province is real Pakistan which is his power base. That is why, the staunch supporter of Nawaz Sharif, chief of PK MAP Mahmood Khan Achakzai made a mischievous statement in the National Assembly the other day in which he declared that FATA is not a part of Pakistan. None of the law makers of PML-N rebutted this deliberate anti Pakistan stance of their devout ally on the floor of the house. It was the PTI member of National Assembly, Ali Muhammad Khan who challenged his credentials as true Pakistani and said that anti- Pakistan politician has no right to be a member of this parliament.

The former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan always got infuriated whenever a question about the presence of Daesh in the country was asked from him either in the parliament or in a press conference. His successor Ahsan Iqbal is also in denial mode about this threat. He is more interested in all is well report. Neither the federal nor the provincial governments are interested in the implementation of National Action Plan. Both Baluchistan and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa are the frontline provinces because of the war going on between Afghan Taliban and Afghan National Army supported by US troops. Daesh fighters have also established strongholds along the Pak-Afghan border. Former Afghan president Hamid Karzai has alleged in an interview with a foreign TV channel that United States is supporting this terrorist outfit with weapons and logistics. In this scenario a long term plan for internal security is inevitable. But the PML-N government is keener in confrontation with state institutions. Just after return from London, the disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced to start a full fledged campaign against, what he called “the double standard of justice.”In response, PTI Chairman Imran Khan threatened to counter Nawaz’s anti judiciary movement. Does the ousted Prime Minister is bent upon pushing the country towards disorder and chaos? The region is in a state of turmoil because of instability in Afghanistan. The situation in the Middle East has also become explosive after US president Trump decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The leadership of PML-N should better demonstrate sagacity instead of going on collision path to derail democracy. They should better focus their attention on internal security of the country for which implementation of National Action Plan is the prerequisite.
