SCCI stresses joint efforts for prevention diabetes

PESHAWAR: Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Fuad Ishaq expressed grave concern over the increasing number of Diabetes patients and called for joint initiatives for prevention and control of this deadly disease by properly creating awareness among the general masses.

In this regard, he said SCCI is ready to cooperate to create awareness for prevention and control of diabetes and obesity by timely diagnosis and treatment.

Fuad Ishaq was speaking at a seminar on “Prevention and Control of Diabetes and Obesity’ organized by Novo Nordisk Pakistan in collaboration with the provincial health department and Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar.

The seminar was attended by policymakers, government departments, UN, NGOs, education and private organisations and corporates along with media representatives.

The SCCI chief suggested joint efforts of public and private sectors to control and prevent the deadly diabetes and obesity disease. He stressed the need for further arranging sessions to create awareness and SCCI, under the CSR will play its role in this regard.

Fuad Ishaq called for evolving a comprehensive action plan in collaboration with public and private, relevant local and donor organizations, and stakeholders. The chamber president said diabetes is a silent killer, for which maximum awareness should be created in the society to control and prevent by timely diagnosing and proper treatment.

Fuad Ishaq lauded the efforts of provincial health authorities, global organisations, policymakers and stakeholders for prevention and control of diabetes and obesity.
