F.P. Report
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Sheikh Waqas Akram has filed a defamation suit worth Rs1 billion against former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry.
According to details surfaced on Thursday, the lawsuit was filed in an Islamabad district and sessions court where Akram has alleged that defamatory and false statements made by Chaudhry on social media have damaged his reputation.
In the petition, Akram has stated that he is a respectable citizen and an elected representative of the people. He argued that legal action has become necessary due to the harm caused to his public image by the alleged statements.
He contended that Fawad Chaudhry’s remarks were not only “baseless but also deeply offensive”. The applicant asserted that these comments have significantly impacted his personal and professional integrity.
Additional Sessions Judge Sohail Sheikh has summoned initial arguments on the matter for 12 July.
