Six labourers shot dead in Turbat

TURBAT: Six laborers were killed and two injured in a firing incident at a house in a satellite area in Turbat area of Kech district on Saturday.

According to media reports, the deceased laborers were identified as Muhammad Shafiq, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Siddiq, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Shahzad and Muhammad Iqbal. They all belonged to Shujaabad Tehsil of Multan district in Punjab.

The injured laborers were identified as Muhammad Riaz and Muhammad Shabbir. They were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to police, the firing incident took place late at night. The unknown shooters managed to escape. Police have registered a case and started investigation into the incident.

The motive behind the firing is not yet known. However, police are investigating various angles, including the possibility of a targeted attack on the laborers. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community. The residents of the area have demanded that the authorities apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Meanwhile, the Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar and Interior Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti on Saturday while condemning the heinous terrorist attack on labourers in Turbat, expressed his deep grief over the loss of lives.

They also conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The prime minister posted on X, “Deeply saddened to hear about the terrorist attack on innocent labourers in Turbat. My heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families. We condemn this heinous act and stand united against terrorism.” In a separate message of condolence, Interior Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti has strongly condemned the tragic killing of six laborers in Turbat, Balochistan.

He, expressed condolence and sympathy to the bereaved families and said neither Baloch, nor Punjabi, but terrorists had martyred Pakistanis. Praying for martyrs, the minister said the state stood with the oppressed and those who shed unjust blood would never be forgiven. He further said the state would take action against the terrorists with full force. The minister made it clear that the sad incident was against the Baloch tradition, as they always respected and valued their guests.

Balochistan Caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki on Saturday has taken notice of the Turbat incident and suspended the Superintendent of Police (SP) of the concerned area. The dead bodies of the laborers who were martyred in the incident would be transferred to Quetta by a special helicopter of the Chief Minister of Balochistan.

In an official statement issued here, it has stated that Ali Mardan Domki has taken strict notice of the incident and contacted the divisional and district administration. On the instructions of the chief minister, the helicopter of the Balochistan government has reached Turbat to transfer the dead, their families and the injured to Quetta and will be sent to Multan by tomorrow morning.
