The future of Ukraine war

Russia has gained full control of the Ukrainian town of Avdiivka after Kyiv’s troops withdrew, following a weeks-long deadly urban battle between the two armies that turned the border town into a completely depopulated wreckage. According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, Russian troops are pressing forward into the large chunk of the 1000 km frontline on the Russian-Ukraine border.

The war in Ukraine is nearly completing its two full years, wherein continued airstrikes, armed drones, missile attacks, and indiscriminate bombing have turned a majority of cities in Eastern Ukraine into unlivable ruins and destroyed infrastructures. The fall of Avdiivka is Russia’s biggest achievement since Moscow captured the city of Bakhmut in May 2023. The Russian government and its military are celebrating their hard-earned victory that fell almost after eight months. Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy, his government, and the public are much worried about the series of events as the war enters its third phase with more lethal Russian offesive, Ukraine’s Western allies are holding back their support that has almost dried up Ukraine’s ammunition and logistics reserves, seriously undermining Ukraine’s war efforts at the crucial point in time. Hence the future of war is uncertain and the fate of independent Ukraine also casts doubts if Kyiv can’t receive sufficient backing from the West.

Historically, the Ukraine war has not only marked the worst economic impact on the global economy but divided the entire world into three political blocs mainly, pro-Ukraine western bloc, pro-Russia or anti-US bloc, and non-aligned or impartial nations. President Zelenskyy and his team purely depended on Western support during their war against several times bigger enemy that was not only equipped with modern sophisticated weaponry, armed drones, long-range missiles, and nuclear arsenal but more ruthless and indiscriminate in their use against its weak neighbour. The United States of America (USA) and the European Union (EU), who fuelled the Ukraine war since beginning about two years ago, provided military assistance to Kyiv with about $ 100 billion consisting of main battle tanks, artillery guns, and other ammunitions which played an effective role in Ukraine’s defense. As the war got prolonged, Kyiv’s supporters, the United States and the European Union (EU) divided internally on the issue of Ukraine’s economic and military assistance during its ongoing war against Russia. The EU assistance package for Ukraine faced staunch opposition from Putin’s strong confederate Vicktor Urban in getting a nod at EU Parliament while the $ 60 billion aid package devised by the Biden administration met the same fate in US Congress, where Republicans offered utmost opposition to Ukraine aid bill under Trump’s America First policy.

After waiting for the US and EU help for the past several months, the Ukrainian Army left a vital border outpost to avoid the life losses of its troops. American President and EU foreign policy Chief still assuring Ukraine of their unwavering support but they are helpless until the competent forums approve the aid bills where anti-Ukraine war groups are positioned and offer unimaginable resistance to aid packages. Serious doubts loom over the future of the Ukraine war, while a political and military backlash is likely to be suffered by Ukraine and its people. Russian President termed the Ukraine war a matter of survival for the Kremlin, the same situation exists in the case of Kiyv, wherein Ukraine has reached the verge of an all-out collapse if it did not receive funds from the West. There are multiple questions and diverse scenarios about the conflict in Eastern Europe, which has the potential to turn into a global war if the syndicate’s interests are not met otherwise President Zelenskyy and his supporters might accede to Russian dominance at some time in the future.
