Tirah Valley IDPs complaint of lack of assistance

F.P. Report

BARA: The tribesmen of Tirah Valley, who have left their homes due to possible forces operation to be launched against militants, have served their lives under an open sky as no facility has been provided to them.

It is worth mentioning here that nearly 324 families from Tirah areas including Ghulam Ali,Khapur,Kandow Kalley,Daroota,Jarobi,Dray Nagharay,Dwa Kholay,Sandapal etc. have vacated  their residencies and have taken refuge in downtown of Bara, district Khyber.

The Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) said that on the short warning of the forces, they left their homes, leaving their all moveable and immovable properties behind them.

One of effectees, Khalil Khan, a social activist said that thousands of local IDPs including women and children provision less arrived in down Bara and temporarily took shelter in tents, open fields and other makeshifts in extreme cold.

Neither the local administration nor the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) provided any relief to the displaced people that was injustice to them, he regretted.

The IDPs went on being residents of mountainous areas; they depended on farming and livestock, however the recent displacement had affected their crops and pet animals.

They demanded of the government to ensure supply of all necessary facilities to them during their temporary stay in down Bara and clear their native villages of militants as soon as possible.

Deputy Commissioner Khyber was repeatedly contacted on his phone but to in- avail.

When a district official of PDMA was contacted on the matter he said that the administration had not contacted them therefore so far no relief activities were kicked off in the Bara for the ease of recent IDPs.
