Top-secret WhatsApp changes revealed

Monitoring Desk

CALIFORNIA: WHATSAPP has got a host of big changes in the pipeline – and some have even been released recently. They range from new options for groups, to improved ways to filter unread chats.

To find out exactly what’s new, read on below:

Add up to 512 people into a group

WhatsApp has not long rolled this one out to everyone, meaning groups will now be colossal.

You can now cram in up to 512 people in one group – so it could get quite noisy quickly.

Chat filter improvements

WhatsApp is currently working on a way to make it easier to filter unread messages.

According to leaked screenshots seen by WABetaInfo, it means you can search through messages and set it to only show unread texts you’ve received.

Do not disturb mode

For anyone with an iPhone, you may or may not be aware that you can set do not disturb mode for your device.

Well, pretty soon it looks like WhatsApp will be able to detect that too.

This will show against any missed calls you’ve received, so you know exactly why you missed it.

Status updates in the chat list

You might have forgotten that WhatsApp has a status update feature tucked away.

It looks like the messaging service wants to bring it to the forefront a bit more, by moving statuses right within the main chat list.

The platform is also developing an ability to export your backed-up chats and data from Google Drive.

Such a change is designed to make it easier when switching smartphones.
