UAE, Saudi offer Syrian Opp $1k salary to help protect PKK

Monitoring Desk

DUBAI: The Saudi-UAE alliance is offering a monthly salary of $1,000 in return for participation in the planned “Arab Force” that is being set up to protect terrorists from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in northeastern Syria.

Saudi and Emirati intelligence agents on the ground are using a carrot-and-stick approach as they attempt to force members of the Syrian opposition to take part in the planned 50,000-strong army, which is set to be trained by U.S. military specialists in Hasakah and Jordan.

$40 million allocated for the project

Attempts are ongoing to find mercenaries in the provinces of Hasakah, Deir Ezzor, Homs, Daraa, Damascus, Aleppo, Idlib, Tartous, Latakia. Those with battlefield experience are prioritized, however, even unexperienced youths are said to be included in the project. A $40 billion budget has been allocated for the Arab Force, which is being set up to protect the PKK.

However, there are plans to recruit mercenaries from African countries, especially Egypt, to cover for the fact that they do not have any foothold in Syria.

They threaten to assassinate them

Saudi intelligence is working hard to protect the PKK and ensure the security of the terror corridor established in northern Syria. Specialists with knowledge of the battlefield are conducting group and individual interviews.

They spread anti-Turkey rhetoric in a bid to overshadow the victory achieved during operations Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch. Some opposition members and their families were even threatened with being assassinated.

Operation Olive Branch was initiated on Jan. 20 in Afrin to establish security and stability, eliminate terrorists of PKK/KCK/PYD-YPG and Daesh, and save locals from the terrorists’ oppression and cruelty.

Forty commanders were assassinated in the past two months

The largest activities behind the creation of an Arab Force aimed at protecting the PKK were run in Damascus. An offer was made to the Syrian opposition to evacuate them to Jordan, which was rejected by all the groups in the area. Over the past two months, however, 40 prominent commanders were assassinated in Idlib as well as other opposition-held areas.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States.

The PKK has been conducting armed violence in the southeastern part of Turkey since 1984. More than 40,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in the three-decade long conflict.
