Uzbekistan delegation in Kabul to strengthen trade

KABUL (Tolo news): The Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced the arrival of a delegation of 30 people from Uzbekistan consisting of officials of the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade.

The spokesperson of the ministry stated that the purpose of the Uzbek businessmen’s visit to the country is to strengthen trade, transit, and investment relations between Kabul and Tashkent.

“The purpose of the trip is to consolidate and strengthen trade, transit, and investment relations between these two countries in the fields of electricity, technology, food, oils, and products, and technical discussions will be held between the two sides in the coming days,” said Akhundzada Abdul Salam.

The Chamber of Commerce and Investment said that in addition to the official meetings of the delegation of Uzbekistan, the private sector of Afghanistan will also discuss the problems of businessmen of both countries.

“The delegation will talk with the officials of the Ministry of Commerce and the Islamic Emirate about the problems that exist in the trade sector, the transit sector, and investment among the private sector of both countries, and this trip will be very useful,” said Khanjan Alokozai, a member of the ACCI.

Economists said strengthening trade relations between Afghanistan and neighboring countries will be beneficial for the development of trade.

“Trading with neighbors is useful and effective. Because the business costs are very low, and the rent is low. For this reason, Uzbekistan, as our neighboring country, is very interested in expanding trade relations with Afghanistan,” said Azrakhsh Hafizi, an economist.

Based on the information of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, the amount of trade between Afghanistan and Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, reaches more than $800 million in one year, of which more than 600 million includes the import of food items, oil, and gas.
