VIPs security

Khyber Pukhtunkhwa government has conveyed security alert to JUI (F) Central Amir Maulana Fazalu Rehman. He has been told to restrict his movement and maintain secrecy of his day to day political activities. He has been advised to install CCTV camera system at his residence and makes arrangement of hiring private security guards for his safety.

The JUI leadership should have taken seriously the travel advisory notice of the government but his spokesman has alleged that withdrawal of official guards from the Maulana has exposed him to security threat. It is not possible for the government to provide dozens of police guards to all political leaders. It does provide, as far as possible, enough police cover and protocol to them commensurate with their VIP status.

The incidents of terrorism that took place in the country in the past 19 years serve the lesson that towering political figures should not unnecessarily expose themselves as soft targets. They must take all precautions that government agencies advise them.

After the US Taliban agreements India will certainly act as spoiler by carrying out terrorist activities in Afghanistan and Pakistan. India has been involved in sponsoring frequent terrorist attacks in the frontline provinces of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and Baluchistan in addition to such acts of less frequency in other two provinces. Hopefully, JUI (F) Central Amir will take all the precautionary and preventive measures suggested to him in the travel advisory of provincial government.
