CALIFORNIA: Meta-owned WhatsApp has introduced a new safety feature in its beta version that will alert the users when they are contacted by an unknown number.
According to WhatsApp Beta Info, the new feature is currently in testing stages and will be released with WhatsApp version 2.23.16.6.
WhatsApp has already provided two options to ‘Report’ or ‘Block’ spam messages but these options are usually not visible as they are located within the chat body.
However, Meta is now working on an overlay screen that will make it clear if you receive a message from any unknown number.
This update will make it more prominent for the users above their chat window.
Moreover, it will also make it possible for the users how to deal with these un-known numbers.
These methods include verifying the phone’s country code, the photo and the name associated with the number.
