Paktia blasts: Death Toll Rises To 41

GARDEZ: At least 41 people including 21 security force members and 20 civilians were killed and 158 people were injured in twin blasts and Taliban attack on police training center in Gardez city of Paktia

The deputy Interior Minister, Gen. Murad Ali Murad confirmed that 41 people were killed and 158 were injured including 48 security force members and 110 civilians in twin blasts and Taliban attack on the police training center.

He added that seven gunmen started attack around 9.30am which was continued for four hours.

Paktia police chief, Toryalai Abdyani was also killed in the deadly suicide bombing at a police headquarters.

Murad said Abdyani’s body was transferred to Kabul in Tuesday afternoon.

The Paktia Police Headquarters and the 303 Police Zone Headquarters are located at the site, which was a heavily equipped area, he said.

Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah who landed in Gardez City on Tuesday evening sent his condolences to the victims’ families, saying that government will investigate the incident.

President Ashraf Ghani also condemned the attack on Tuesday afternoon.
