NEW DELHI: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has said that Pakistan needs to give access to Pakistan’s Wagah and Attari border to trade with Indian otherwise Afghanistan will not be a part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). This was reported by the DNA India on Wednesday.
Ashraf Ghani said this while addressing to a gathering at the Vivekananda International Foundation in New Delhi. President Ghani said that Kabul will block Pakistan’s access to central Asia if it is not given access to India through the CPEC project.
Ashraf Ghani comments comes after a four nation including Pakistan, China, Afghanistan and America meeting was held in Oman for the revival of peace talks with the Taliban.
President Ghani added that Pakistan needs to make a choice and our reaction will be same as the Pakistan. Pakistan providing safe havens, logistics and ideology to extremists, now it is time Islamabad makes a choice, he added.
Ghani also welcomed and appreciated the new role of India in Afghanistan as it was discussed in the new US policy for the region and adding that the new US policy is the game changer in the region.
Ghani visited India just a day after US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s surprise visit to Afghanistan.
