Afghan FM meets Uzbek officials

KABUL (Khaama Press): Afghan Minister Haneef Atmar met with Uzbek Foreign, Abdulaziz Kamilov on Tuesday, officials of both countries discussed bilateral relations, the peace process, economics, and trade. “The Government of Afghanistan is fully committed to its pledges in the peace process and seeks a solution that arises from the free will of the people and leads to lasting peace”, Afghanistan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Atmar expressed Afghanistan’s commitment to ending war, ceasefire, and preserving achievements of the past two decades, he also expected the Taliban to honor the ceasefire, reduce violence and reach a political solution. “The Government of Afghanistan is fully committed to its pledges in the peace process and seeks a solution that arises from the free will of the people and leads to lasting peace”, Atmar added.

“To support peace in Afghanistan, we need a consolidated stance by countries in the region and the world,” Kamilov said. “The Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the support of the region’s countries for ensuring peace and stability and thanked Uzbekistan for its effective role in the framework of regional structures, especially the P5 + 1.
