KABUL (Khaama Press): Afghanistan and Nepal’s cricket federations have confirmed that they will participate in the Asia Cup tournament games in Pakistan.
Both sides’ cricket governing bodies have reportedly given Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) guarantees that they will have no trouble coming to the host nation for the event in September.
Since four out of the six participants have already approved the concept, Bangladesh has already confirmed its intentions, raising PCB’s expectations that its hybrid model will now pass inspection by the ACC.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka endorses the proposed model except for the UAE’s neutral location due to the heat.
Meanwhile, India was reluctant to visit Pakistan to participate in the event.
India has been offered to play its games on a neutral pitch under the hybrid arrangement.
Since it is not a part of the games that will be played in Pakistan, India’s objections to the plan presented by PCB chief Najam Sethi hold no significance.
The assurances from Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal have raised hopes that the hybrid model will be approved.
According to reports, discussions on the neural venue might begin after the hybrid model is accepted.
