Pakistani cueist takes home 21st Asian Snooker Championship

TEHRAN: Ahsan Ramzan on Wednesday defeated his Iranian rival Malad Pourali to win the Under-21 Snooker Championship in Tehran.

Having won the first four frames convincingly, the young Pakistani cueist looked like the favorite from the start.

Even though the Irani won the fifth and sixth frames, Ramzan did not loose his grip on the game and claimed the title by winning the seventh frame.

Ramzan defeated his opponent comprehensively in the best of seven frame by five-two.

Frame scores for his victory were 48-46, 70-5, 61-6, 62-29, 30-71, 55-67, 101-27.

Earlier, his victory in the Semi-Final secured a place in the final where he played another Iranian cueist called Tirdad Azadipout. He won his semifinal by winning the Best of Seven 4-2 to secure his spot in the final.

Earlier, Ramzan took the better of Indian Digvijay Kadian 4-3 in a fully-stretched quarter-final.

Ahsan, who topped group ‘B’, fought back after trailing 2-3 to inflict a 76-19, 76-36, 35-67, 31-63, 55-72, 65-27, 70-9 defeat on his opponent.
