ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has appointed Andaleeb Abbas MNA, a leading corporate and development sector exert as the Convener of the cross-party 20 member Strategic Planning Oversight Committee (SPOC) to chalk out a five year strategic plan for National Assembly to move away from the conventional work environment to a more modern, professional and automated form of working.
Ms. Andaleeb Abbas, a Member of the National Assembly from Lahore bring a vast experience, spreading over three decades in planning, management and development. She is an expert of global repute, having worked with the World Bank and top international brands.
The SPOC has been mandated to develop a framework for Strategic Plan 2019-23. The strategic plan is very important as it will determine the direction of National Assembly for the next five years to make its legislative, oversight and budgetary functions more effective and efficient while simultaneously making it fully representative of the will and aspirations of people of Pakistan.
It is expected to encompass a clearly defined vision, mission, values, goals and objectives of this sovereign parliamentary institution.
Furthermore The Standing Committee on Water Resources in a meeting held today in the Parliament House, Islamabad unanimously elected Nawab Yousuf Talpur, MNA as its Chairman.
The Special Secretary, National Assembly Secretariat welcomed the members and briefed about the procedure for election of the Chairman. Mr. Ali Nawaz Awan, MNA proposed the name of Nawab Yousuf Talpur, MNA as Chairman of the Committee while Mr. Farooq Azam Malik, MNA seconded his candidature. Accordingly, Nawab Yousuf Talpur, MNA was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Water Resources.
The Special Secretary, National Assembly Secretariat, congratulated the newly elected Chairman on behalf of the Honorable Speaker and assured him full support from the Secretariat for effective and efficient functioning of the Committee.
The Chairman expressed his gratitude to the members for posing confidence in him and assured them to run the business of the Committee with consensus. The members while appreciating views of the Honorable Chairman assured him their fullest support in the process of legislation.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Mr. Fazal Muhammad Khan, Mr. Ali Nawaz Awan, Ch. Shoukat Ali Bhatti, Mr. Muhammad Farooq Azam Malik, Ms. Nooreen Farooq Khan, Ms. Kunwal Shauzeb, Ch. Muhammad Hamid Hameed, Mr. EhsanurRehman Mazari and Mr. Munir Khan Orakzai besides the senior officers of the National Assembly Secretariat.
