Tribesmen criticize CTD for dishonoring “Chadar and Chardewari” in Landi Kotal

F.P. Report

LANDI KOTAL: The local residents disapproved of what they said was an unnecessary Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) raid carried out in Khuga Khel area of Tehsil Landi Kotal district Khyber last day.

It is to be stated here that last night CTD officials from Peshawar raided the house of one, Tawab son of Janbat, Ashraf Khel, Khuga Khel without prior informing the local police officials and the affected families.

Scores of political and social figures, holding placards inscribed with slogans in favor of their demands, gathered at Bacha Khan Chawk, main Landi Kotal Bazaar on Friday and condemned the CTD raid.

The speakers including Tehsil Chairman Haji Shah Khalid, Aftab Shinwari, Najeeb Khawrichan, Farman Shinwari, Israr Shinwari and others said that it was against the Pakhtun tradition and law of the country to conduct raid in the dark of night.

The police officials staged fake dramas in the form of raids in Khyber to get promotion and other incentives, they blamed.

They maintained that if the CTD wanted any outlaw, they should approach the tribal elders, and the local police who would hand him over to them with support of his relatives and family members.

Which law permits CTD to conduct raids that dishonor our homes without having a warrant, First Information Report (FIR) and other legal processes against an innocent citizen, they questioned.

They warned that if the same kind of unlawful act was continued in the area then they would have no other option but to open fire on those who break –in their residents in the dark of night.

They demanded of the Inspector General Police (IGP) and the provincial government to immediately stop illicit raids of CTD in Khyber otherwise they would come on roads to protest against it.
