Assets beyond means case: NAB summons Khawaja Asif on April 1

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned senior leader of Pakistan Muslsim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khawaja Asif in assets beyond known source of income on April 1.

According to local news channel reports, former federal minister Khawaj Asif has been served notice to appear before the Rawalpindi office of bureau.

Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal had ordered investigation against former foreign minister on August 16, 2018.

Khawaja Asif is charged with plundering national wealth worth Rs 3.66 billion and accumulating assets in Pakistan and abroad beyond his known source of income.

Last year in the month of December, Prime Minister’s (PM) aide on Youth Affairs, Usman Dar had submitted evidence regarding alleged money laundering by Khawaja Asif to the NAB.

Dar submitted evidence against Pakistan Muslim League -Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Khawaja Asif to NAB.

The proof included details of foreign investments made by Asif and details of benami transactions made through his wife’s foreign bank accounts for buying off-shore properties and other assets.

Dar also handed over a confidential agreement regarding Asif’s employment in a foreign company while being federal minister to NAB authorities.
