ATC extends Imran’s interim bail till April 13

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore Tuesday extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan till April 13 next in the case of Zille Shah murder, vandalism and torture of police.

Due to the security concerns, Imran Khan appeared in the chamber of the judge. Earlier, the court had rejected his plea for exemption from personal appearance and ordered him to appear at 11:00 AM.

ATC Administrative Judge Abhar Gul Khan heard the case. It merits a mention here that PTI Chairman Imran Khan had filed a plea for an interim bail in three cases.

Court dismisses Imran’s plea for exemption from personal appearance

While dismissing the plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for exemption from personal appearance in the case of Zille Shah murder, vandalism and torture of police, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore Tuesday asked Imran Khan to appear at 11:00 AM.

“Please tell me whether Imran Khan is coming or not. I have to look at the law. Do not give the examples of other courts. Only by appearing in the court can Imran Khan get relief. Even his surety bonds have not been submitted,” the ATC judge said while hearing the case.

The court also rejected the pleas of PTI leaders – Hammad Azhar and Fawad Chaudhry – to exempt them from personal appearance. “If the accused do not appear by 11 o’clock [today], their interim bail will be dismissed,” it declared.

LHC seeks reply from Pemra for banning Imran’s speeches

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Tuesday issued a written order on the contempt plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan against Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) for banning his speeches.

The court issued notices to respondents in the case including the Pemra chairman and sought answers from them on April 28 next. Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza had issued the written order.

ATC hearing

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad Tuesday heard the plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for pre-arrest bail in a case registered at Sangjani police station under terrorism provisions.

The court was informed that the Islamabad High Court is set to take up PTI chief’s bail application on April 6 (Thursday).

Upon which, the Judge Raja Jawad Abbas said “We also set the hearing for the same day.”
