Ayushmann Khurrana to play a cop in ‘Article-15’

MUMBAI: After impressing the audience and critics in his last release – Mulk, director Anubhav Sinha is back with another intriguing story. A hard-hitting investigative drama, titled Article 15, the film stars Ayushmann Khurrana in the role of a cop. Touted to be one of his most ambitious projects,  the film is expected to not just resonate well with the audience but also do well at the box-office.

After his successful run at the box-office last year with films like Badhaai Ho and Andhadhun, it will be interesting to see Ayushmann in the cop avatar. In the first picture, the actor can be seen holding some papers standing next to a police jeep with a moustache and grim expression on his face. Check out his look!

Ayushmann along with the film’s team has already begun filming in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. For the unversed, Article 15 of the Indian Constitution prohibits the state from discriminating citizens on the basis of religion, race, caste, sex and place of birth. Article 15 also stars Isha Talwar, Manoj Pahwa, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra and Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub in important roles.

Talking about his role in the film, Ayushmann Khurrana told Mumbai Mirror, “I’m always intrigued by the socio-political situation of our country. We hardly see films which present the situation in an unbiased way. Anubhav Sinha is one such director who understands the complexities of our country. I loved Mulk. It is the most balanced film based on communalism and extremism. And it will be an absolute pleasure to work with him on Article 15.”
