Cairo-Summit and failed Arab diplomacy

Leaders and top officials from more than a dozen countries have gathered in the Egyptian capital, for a conference to discuss ways to de-escalate the Israel-Hamas war amid growing risk of a wider spillover in the Middle East. The conference was attended by representatives from countries including Jordan, France, Germany, Russia, China, the UK, the US, Qatar, South Africa, the EU and the United Nations. Israel did participate while its absolute backer, the United States of America appointed a low-level official to mark participation. The UN Secretary-General particularly attended the session and issued an appeal for an immediate ceasefire to give a chance to peace, and diplomacy to seek an ultimate solution to the dispute.

Currently, a relentless bombing campaign underway in Gaza against innocent civilians along with targeted special operations on Hamas potential hideouts, arms stores, and residential complexes in a territory that is entirely cut off by the rest of the world through infamous Israeli border wall, comprehensive mechanism of fencing, barriers and barricades installed by the Israeli military. Amid such a high level of bombardment and shelling, the Israeli rogue regime turned Gaza into an unliveable place by turning off the supply of essential commodities including food, water, fuel, electricity, medicines etc creating famine-like situation in Palestine.

This situation has prompted worldwide condemnation of Israeli inhumane atrocities while hundreds of thousands of people came to streets in support of Palestinians in Arab nations. The Arab leaders fear a public uprising against the ruling elites on the issue of Palestine and are compelled to carry out flamsy activities such as conferences, shuttle diplomacy and press releases to show off their affiliation with Palestine. Meanwhile, the Egyptian leader also fears mass exodus of Palestinians into their land, which instigated him to arrange such a gathering that failed in assembling any important player at this point.

In fact, political and military weakness together with disunity of Arab leaders has encouraged the Jewish state to bring such ruination in Palestine and abstain from global efforts for ceasefire and peace. If Arab nations deploy their forces on Israeli borders and send a clear ultimatum to Tel Aviv. The war would stop in no time and the Palestine issue would be resolved in days not years.
