CM lauds de-radicalization of extremism affected people

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has said that terrorism had gone out of control in the past and had become a challenge. However the security forces backed by the people sacrificed everything to eliminate terrorism and restored peace in the region adding that his government wanted a durable peace in order to get expeditious development.

He appreciated the establishment and the efforts of de-radicalization center (DRC) for the establishment of peace in the country and de-radicalization of the affectees of extremism.

He was addressing a function of de-radicalization center, shahkas Hayatabad where the sabawoon-II project completed the de-radicalization of 110 persons. Advisor Ajmal Khan Wazir, IG FC Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North Major General Rahat Naseem, Sector Commander Shahbaz Akbar Qazi, Officer commanding DRC Lieutenant Col: Syed Aurangzaib Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner district Khyber, officers of DRC Sabaoon and elites of Khyber, Mohmand, Bajawor and Orakzai also participated in the function.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted the sacrifices of both the security forces and the people for the elimination of terrorism and restoration of durable peace adding that terrorism had become a challenge and the nation fought historic war against it, he added.

He said that we are still exposed to the inimical designs of the anti state elements who are out to divide the nation therefore we should be aware of the nefarious designs of the enemy. The government and the Pak Army would continue to provide peace security education and health facilities and ensure employment and prosperity to the people in order to safeguard the coming generation and enable the people to contribute to the national development.

The Chief Minister said that it was good to see that Sabaoon has become the major contributor in the de-radicalization of affectees of the extremism and succeeded to rehabilitate 1140 persons. Out of them 770 people how become peaceful citizens of the society, he added.

Mahmood Khan said that there were multiple factors behind the terrorism and the people affected by it therefore the rehabilitation of these people was not an easy job to do. However Sabaoon became a success story because of the cooperation of the elders and people adding that Sabaoon not only became a centre of education and rehabilitation but a home where the people are de-radicalized and trained to become useful citizens in the society. He also appreciated it for its welfare activities adding that there would be different programs that included training the men and women to earn their livelihood.

He also congratulated the families of the affected people and asked the people to guide the de-radicalized once to become useful citizen of the society. He took oath from the trained persons. He also distributed prizes among the opposition holders of the training and watched the Tablo and other colorful programs.
