JAMRUD: A police soldier embraced Martyrdom when he was targeted with snipper gun here in Lala Kandow checkpoint, Jamrud district Khyber on Wednesday night.
District Police Officer, Saleem Abbas Kulchvi said that the late Mujiburrehman who was posted at the check post was filling potable water when he was shot wounded. He was taken to Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar for medical aid however succumbed to his injuries. On Thursday morning funeral prayer of the Shaheed soldier was offered with State honor in police line, Shahkas, Jamrud.
Later on, the deceased police official was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Ali Masjid. Meanwhile a peace committee leader along with his nephew was shot and dead here in Sheenkamr, Tirah Valley on Thursday.
Police official said that unknown armed persons killed commander Amir Khan and his nephew Shahid on the spot and fled of the scene.
Separately, 223 Afghan immigrants, illegally resided in various parts of the country were deported to their country via Torkham border on Thursday,the official informed.
