Death toll rises to 39 due to recent heavy rains

KABUL (Khaama Press): The recent heavy snowfall in the country has led to the loss of 39 lives in different provinces, while 30 more people have been injured.
The recent heavy snowfall has blocked several communication routes in provinces and districts, leading to the tragic loss of 39 lives. Janan Sayeq, spokesman for the Ministry of Disaster Management, stated that thousands of livestock have also perished due to the snowfall.
He added, “The recent snow and rain have completely or partially destroyed 637 residential homes and claimed the lives of 14,000 livestock.”
Meanwhile, the heavy snowfall in the country has brought joy to citizens as it contributes to increasing surface water for agriculture.
It’s worth mentioning that after four days of snowfall and blizzard, the Salang Highway reopened today, Monday, to passenger vehicles.
These events highlight the importance of crisis management and proper anticipation, as a lack of preparedness can exacerbate damage to people’s lives and properties.
The aftermath of the recent snowfall underscores the need for improved infrastructure resilience and disaster response mechanisms to mitigate future risks effectively.
