Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation discussed an innovative system of financing the army in wartime

MOSCOW (TASS): During a working trip to St. Petersburg, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Tatyana Shevtsova held a meeting on an innovative system for financing the army in wartime, which will be tested during the West-2021 exercises, the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters.

“The meeting discussed the functioning of the financial support system in wartime, which will be worked out during the strategic command and staff exercises West-2021,” the department said.

According to the ministry, at the moment, military financiers have worked out the issues of calculating and paying monetary allowances to ensure mobilization deployment within the framework of the “West-2021”. They also considered the issues of financial support for conditionally formed military units.

At the meeting, the Deputy Defense Minister set the task of interacting with the territorial bodies of the Federal Treasury, field offices of the Bank of Russia, commercial banks while providing the personnel of the RF Armed Forces with payments in various conditions, both in Russian rubles and in foreign currency.

Earlier, Shevtsova reported that a completely new, innovative scheme for financial support of troops during the transition from peacetime to wartime had been developed. It will allow in wartime to ensure uninterrupted financing of troops in various conditions of the situation, including in the absence of stable communication channels, interruptions in power supply.

The joint Russian-Belarusian strategic command and staff exercises “West-2021” will be held from 10 to 16 September. The readiness of the armed forces of the two countries to defend the Union State will be checked.
