Earthquake of 4.6 magnitude strikes Afghanistan

FAIZABAD KABUL (Khaama press): An earthquake of 4.6 magnitudes struck Faizabad capital city of Badakhshan province of Afghanistan, on Sunday.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred at 9:05 local time and had a depth of 150 Km, the Indian National Center for Seismology reported.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:4.6, Occurred on 04-06-2023, 09:05:32 local time, Lat: 36.71 & Long: 72.96, Depth: 150 Km, Location: 218km E of Fayzabad.”

According to National Centre for Seismology, a similar earthquake occurred yesterday with a magnitude of 4.2 and struck Kabul City, Afghanistan.

So far, no causalities have been reported due to the earthquake. Further details are awaited.

Afghanistan is a disaster prone-region, including earthquakes, landslides, floods, heavy rain and avalanches.

The recent repeated tremors in the country, particularly in Faizabad’s capital city of Badakhshan, have increased the concern of local people.

The lack of a disaster management system and response has caused severe damage in the country, including the northern and northeast.
