ECP needs to treat equally all political parties: Naeem-ul-Haq

F.P Report

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, Naeem-ul-Haque has said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should equally treat all the political parties and demanded the same scrutiny of accounts of the other political parties as was undertaken against it.

This he said while talking to media persons on Monday after submitting the request. He added that ECP needs to examine the financial accounts of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Regarding the PPP and PML-N, he claimed that the parties’ own auditors have found irregularities in their accounts. The people has an impression that ECP is only targeting the PTI when it comes to probing party’s funding and it also bad for the ECP’s reputation shouldn’t be tainted with the next elections as it is around the corner.

The PTI has been facing the ‘foreign funding case’ in the ECP, filed by the party’s disgruntled founding member Akbar Babar, since 2014.

Babar has filed a petition seeking the disqualification of PTI Chairman Imran Khan for allegedly obtaining funding from illegal sources and discrepancies in the party’s accounts.
