EU call for the restoration of institutional stability in Tunisia

F.P. Report

BRUSSELS: The European Union is following developments in Tunisia with the greatest attention. The democratic roots of the country, respect for the rule of law, the Constitution and the legislative framework must be preserved while remaining attentive to the wishes and aspirations of the Tunisian people. Therefore, we call for the restoration of institutional stability as soon as possible, and in particular for the resumption of parliamentary activity, respect for fundamental rights and the abstention from all forms of violence.

We will continue to closely follow the evolution of the situation while recalling the considerable support of the European Union and its member states to Tunisia in the context of a major pandemic and economic crisis. The preservation of democracy and stability of the country are priorities.
