FATA reforms: JI long march reaches Faizabad Interchange

ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) workers and supporters reached Faizabad Interchange on Tuesday as it was started from Khyber Agency to the Parliament with the aim to pressurize the government for the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The JI had announced a long march for the merger of tribal into KP as per the wishes of the tribesmen and the long march was started from Khyber Agency to Parliament with the aim to register their protest for delaying the announcement of FATA into KP.

The hundreds of JI workers and supporters reached the Faizabad interchange this afternoon on Tuesday.

Earlier, Opposition Leader in National assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah, who in the day staged a walkout from the National Assembly over government’s failure to table FATA Reforms Bill, also reached Faizabad Interchange to show support for JI’s long march.

While addressing to workers, JI Cheif Siraj-ul-Haq remarked that the basic aim f the long march is the abolition of Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) as it destroyed the basic rights of the people of tribal belt and merger of FATA into KP.

The party supporters and workers, who had gathered at Bab-e-Khyber on Monday, reached Faizabad Interchange from Murree Road, Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
