Four civilians killed in Khost night time operation

KHOST: Four persons of a family were killed during night time operation in Nadir Shah Kot district in Khost province. The security forces raided a house in Ziarai Kai village in Zenai Khel area last night, local residents told Afghan media outlet.

Four persons, including two women and as many men were killed in the operation, they said. The victims were innocent civilians. The enraged residents were taking their bodies to Khost city to register their protest, they added.

According to local people, the security forces damaged private properties of residents. The security forces put fire to a vehicle and a portion of the house, they added.

Meanwhile, Khost security in-charge Abdul Hanan told AIP that the security forces have conducted operation in the area. He, however, added he did not have information about casualties.

The offensive was carried out by campaign force, which was formed by the foreign troops few years ago. The campaign force has been controlled by the foreign forces stationed in Afghanistan. The interior and defence ministries of Afghanistan are often not informed about the operations of this force.

Several complaints have been registered against the campaign force. Six persons were killed as a result of the operation of campaign force in Sabario district in Khost on February 19, this year. Similarly, seven persons of a family were killed in another operation of this force in Alisher district.

The local residents have blocked the Kabul-Kandahar highway in Qara Bagh district in Ghazni over the past two days in protest against the killing of three persons in their house on last Saturday.

According to local residents, the victims included a woman have been killed with the support of pro-government armed militia. A person was injured and two more were taken away in the operation.
