G7: High Representative Josep Borrell  participates in Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Germany

BRUSSELS: From 12 May to 14 May, EU High Representative of the Union for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell will be in Weissenhaus, Germany to participate in the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

He will join counterparts from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States to discuss pressing foreign policy and security issues, in particular the international response to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. G7 Ministerial Meeting will also address developments in Asia and Africa, including in the context of the Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, as well as the situation in the Middle East and Africa and Asia.

G7 Foreign Ministers will also discuss global challenges, including democratic resilience and how to this end best counter foreign interference, and efforts to step up the global action to end the COVID-19 pandemic and invest in infrastructure and connectivity. They will also address the climate crisis and the need to strengthen early warning systems related to climate and security.

The Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova will join G7 partners for a part of the meeting.

While in Germany, the High Representative will hold bilateral meetings with the host of the event, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.
