Haqqani stresses need for education

KABUL (TOLOnews): The head of the National Examination Authority, Abdul Baqi Haqqani, emphasized the importance of contemporary education in the nation in addition to religious sciences, during the religious scholars’ exam ceremony in the northern region of the country.
Haqqani said that they would show the world that Afghanistan is capable of excelling in the field of education.
According to the official, the Islamic Emirate will prove to the world that Afghanistan is not only the center of war, but also the center of science and progress.
“We sent the message of Jihad to the world, and now the world wants the message of science. As Afghanistan is the source of Jihad, it is also the source of religious and contemporary sciences,” Haqqani said.
Local officials of Balkh and the participants of the exam also said contemporary education is beneficial for the progress and development of the country in addition to religious education.
“Assigning people to professional positions will lead to progress in the country and society,” said Mohammad Sharif Osmani, chancellor of Balkh University.
“We need religious scholars, also we need engineers. I think we need educated people in both classes in our country,” said Hizbullah, a participant from Sar-e-pol province.
The National Examination Authority (NEXA) said that religious scholars from the junior and senior courses in the nation’s provinces—including women and girls—have taken the test. Those who score highly will be awarded academic and educational credentials.
