Humayun Akhtar announces ‘parting ways’ with PTI

LAHORE: Another prominent figure and heavyweight politician from Lahore Humayun Akhtar Khan announced quitting the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on desecrating the national martyrs and their memorandums on May 9.

PTI leader Humayun Akhtar said in a tweet on Thursday that the events of May 9 are less to be condemned and in these circumstances, it is not possible for him to continue his relationship with the party so he quitting to it.

Humayun Akhtar said from the establishment of Pakistan till today, his family has had an eternal link to the Pakistan Army and they feel proud of the army of which Shaheed Akhtar Abdul Rehman was the general.

He said this nation will never forget the sacrifices of martyrs. He added that the events of May 9 deeply saddened his family as well as the entire nation.

He said the act of damaging the memorials of the martyrs was a cause of great sorrow for him as a son of a martyred general.

He added that the people of Pakistan have always respected the Pak Army immensely.
