Interior ministry approves trial of two LeJ terrorists in military courts

KARACHI: The Interior Ministry has approved the trail of two suspected terrorists of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) in military courts on the request of Sindh’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

The banned terrorist organization of LeJ members were arrested by the CTD last and they were identified as Mohammad Ishaq alias Bobi and Mohammad Asim alias Ahmed alias Kapri.

DIG CTD, Amir Farooqi said to local news channel that CTD had broken the network of LeJ terrorist organization and arrested the two suspected terrorists last year who were involved in terrorist activities.

The CTD department planned to start the trail of these two arrested terrorists in the military courts because of the nature of their crimes, he added. CTD had submitted a report to the ministry and requested it through a letter to approve their trails in military courts, Farooqi told.

He added that 10 cases were registered against the arrested terrorists, at Ittehad Town, Preedy, CTD Sindh and Shareefabad police stations, and six other FIRs were lodged at the CTD Sindh Police Station.

DIG CTD added that Interior Ministry after receiving the application called the CTD to Islamabad and after four meeting the decision was made on November 1 to start trail of the terrorists in the military courts.
