KABUL (TOLOnews): On the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, some residents of the capital complained about their economic challenges and asked the aid institutions and the Islamic Emirate to eradicate economic challenges from the country.
Hossein is one of dozens of needy people who came to Kabul from Badakhshan province for work. He spoke about the challenges of his life like this.
“My economic situation is not good, I have 8 to 12 members at home and my old mother and father are also with me,” said Hossein.
“We always see the problems of people who are suffering from poverty, winter is coming, and the international community should help Afghanistan in this field,” said Murtaza, a Kabul resident.
The International Labor Organization wrote on X that millions of people in Afghanistan are struggling with unemployment.
“Millions of Afghans unfortunately face the same problem: a lack of decent work opportunities. ILO Afghanistan is doing everything possible to support and empower them by creating jobs that provide fair wages, safe working conditions, and opportunities for growth and development,” said ILO Afghanistan.
“The government of Afghanistan itself needs to make an economic plan to attract foreign investors to provide them with a working environment,” said Abdul Naseer Reshtia, an economist.
The Ministry of Economy said that the ministry is trying to reduce poverty by implementing policies and long-term plans in the country.
“Our effort is to design a strategic plan that includes macroeconomic projects, and development of medium and small industries in the agenda of the Islamic
Emirate to eradicate poverty in the social structure of Afghanistan,” said Abdul Latif Nazari, the deputy minister of the economy.
Earlier, various international institutions warned about the expansion of the scope of poverty in the country.
