Israel’s Apartheid Jackboot remains on the necks of Palestinian who still can’t breathe

Jerome Irwin

FOREWORD

Following 12 days of violent hostilities between Israel and Hamas, that ended on May 21st, 2021 with a ceasefire brokered by the Egyptian government, after only 5 days of the ceasefire truce the Israeli Army had already violated the truce numerous times, trying to provoke the Palestinians to break the truce themselves, by: attacking and injuring 350-500 Palestinians, and; abducting/kidnapping/disappearing over 155 more men, women and children. While the Israeli Army and Jewish Colonialist-Settler-Extremists continued to: attack and terrorize Palestinian homes; burning their farmlands, uprooting Olive Tree groves in innumerable Palestinian settlements: Bethlehem; Hebron, Sheikh Jarrah, Wai Quna, Tubas, West Bank, N’lin, Kufor Qaddoum, Ramallah; Nablus, Hebron, Qaliqilia, Jenin, and Jericho.

THIS IS THE WAY THINGS ARE IN OCCUPIED PALESTINE, ISRAEL & THE WORLD IN 2021

All human beings, like all living beings on this earth, deserve dignity and respect! It’s a basic fundamental right of life that can’t be denied at the peril of all of humanity and the earth! The Palestinians are no different. Who with a human heart and a conscience can’t see who’s doing what to whom in Gaza, West Bank, Jerusalem and everywhere else in the Occupied Palestinian Territories? Who with even half-a-brain and basic human intelligence can’t see, since the very beginnings of the Jewish colonizer-settler occupation in 1948, that what is behind the constant violations of international law are the same constant motivations of the rapacious white colonizers of the American Empire in Washington D.C., who happily aid and abet the same motivations of the white colonizer settler extremists of the Jewish Empire in Tel Aviv?

The Palestinians now are the dispossessed indigenous native Indian peoples, reduced in America to living on what some still refer to as “impacted open air prisons” where, two centuries later, the white colonizers still are misappropriating and abusing the natural resources and pristine world the indigenous peoples once knew life to be before their original lands were stolen from them. Theyare the Black African slaves of America, originally segregated from their white colonizing overlords for nearly two centuries, still living in sub-standard conditions compared to their original white colonizer overlords. The same rough and tumble world exists for all those other non-white peoples who have come to the so-called ‘New World’ and had to enter into the same struggle for existence with someone else’s jackboot on their necks, and they still can’t breathe freely in the colonizers ‘survival of the fittest’ world.

With the latest ceasefire in Gaza, what now must be recovered by the Palestinians is far, far more Yet once again the same realities in Gaza, the West Bank or wherever else in the Occupied Territories of former Palestine reminds one of the old Talking Heads song, Once in a Lifetime, whose lines go:

You may ask yourself, my god, what have I done? Letting the days go by into silent water, once in a lifetime, water flowing underground, Same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was, Time isn’t holding us…Letting the days go by, letting the days go by, same as it ever was, same as it ever was, once in a lifetime.

Once again though, in a lifetime, still another ceasefire has been reached in Gaza. The, by now, seven decades-long ritualistic blood-letting cycle of Palestinian and Jewish blood, by all the haters in Washington D.C., Tel Aviv and Occupied Palestine, have once again run their purging course and been temporarily satiated until the next time when so much unchecked, pent-up human rage must once again be satiated.

Meanwhile, nothing significant will change for Occupied Palestine. Freedoms will remain restricted. Palestinians still won’t be allowed the Right to Return to their former homelands. Palestinians still won’t be any closer to realizing a Separate Two-State or Integrated One State Solution, with a Palestinian Capitol in East Jerusalem. Gaza and other ‘Open-Air Prison’ places, where oppressive racist IDF guards will still man hideously=choked, dehumanizing checkpoints to restrict and brutalize Palestinians every movement. Bantustan Palestinian territories will still remain in place, and; no trial of Apartheid Crimes against Humanity by Israel against Palestinians will be heard in a United Nation’s International Court of Justice (ICC).

Zionists will continue to defame as anti-Semites all those who still dare to argue Israel’s occupation of Palestine and dispossession of the Palestinians as the work of illegal Jewish colonizers. Yet each time they make such an argument it is the Zionists themselves who are the original anti-Semites, as evidenced by their own rabid opposition to the right of another member of the Semite Race to freely occupy Palestine, namely, the original Arab peoples of Palestine and Arabs in general.

Everything, as the old Talking Head song goes, will essentially remain the “Same as it ever was”, UNTIL the next ritualistic blood-letting of Palestinian and Israeli blood is called upon by all the Zionist haters in Washington D.C., Tel Aviv and the Occupied Palestine Territories to be duly purged. Just as America itself has fought two centuries of holocaustic wars – some civil, others less so – against its own Black, Brown and Native American peoples and, still, in that time, nothing basically has been settled and remains same as it ever was between them and their white colonizer-overlords.

SO MANY CAN’T BREATHE IN TODAY’S WORLD

Just as George Floyd once couldn’t breathe until he died gasping under the knee of an American Minneapolis policeman so, too, now, as they have been suffering since the Nakba Catastrophe in 1948, the Palestinians slowly continue to die under the oppressive boot of Benjamin Netanyahu, his IDF Forces and every Israeli-Jewish bully-who follows their lead; pressing down ever harder, listening with gleeful anticipation for those last dying Arab gasps they long to hear.

Like the American policeman who didn’t respect George Floyd’s human rights, as so many other mean-spirited Americans over the course of time have done with other Black-Brown-Asian-Native Americans they likewise have denied the same right to live as they would, so, too, the Jewish settlers in Occupied Palestine continue to quite happy and willingly march through the streets of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, the West Bank or wherever else a vulnerable, unsuspecting Palestinian family could be found, knowing full-well that they had/have the protected right to chant, ”Death to the Arabs!”. Israeli Jewish gang rage, its members bound by a common religion, race and place of residency, knew/know they have the full protection of Israeli Knesset politicians and IDF military forces, backed up by the might of their American counterparts, to rage against whatever unsuspecting Palestinian they may find. In the end, another ugly ‘Rodney King’ bashing, Jewish-style, will get played out on live TV.

What an abomination! What an outrage! Is this what the United States and the rest of the so-called ‘free’ Western World once fought a second world over, and so selflessly and needlessly died while trying to save the whole human race, especially Jewish people, from the Nazi gas chambers of the Holocaust?

WHAT WOES IN THE MIDDLE EAST WILL THE NEW CEASEFIRE RESOLVE?

Now, with U.S. President Biden and his VP Kamala Harris’ blatantly-unshakable and unequivocal allegiance, along with every Democrat-Republican politician and American voter who have aligned themselves with Israeli PM Netanyahu and his Knesset-Likud Party’s racist, apartheid debacle in Occupied Palestine, doesn’t that equally make them all terrorist partners-in-crimes against humanity?

How will a ceasefire address the fact that they all, equally, have blood on their hands, no different from the crimes the Nazi and their allies once committed than those equally evil, villainous, dastardly murders that now are being committed against innocent Palestinian men, women and children? Shouldn’t the Israeli fascists now be hated as much and defended against by the world as much as once were the Nazi fascists? Shouldn’t President Biden be choking on his own words when he once declared, “If Israel hadn’t ever existed, we would have had to create one”? Or when Biden declares, “Israel has an inherent right to protect themselves”, yet initially, at the outset of the latest hostilities said nothing about the Palestinian people’s same right to defend themselves? Aren’t their rights the same as all the Brown-Black-Yellow-Red peoples of America whose same inherent human rights and entitlements also have been so violated for so long?

The ugly racist violence that just finished wending its way throughout Occupied Palestine: Israeli warplanes, tanks and cannons – manufactured, bought and paid for with American taxpayer monies – pounded the dwellings of innocent Palestinian men, women and children, evicted by IDF troops from their homes with no place to live other than the rubble of the streets and wastelands of their former spiritual homelands. Is this what no doubt will continue to occur, unabated; while Israel’s apartheid regime and a hamstrung, if not blind or indifferent United Nations Security Council, will continue to be repeatedly blocked from doing anything about it by Biden and America’s racist veto powers that continue to deny Palestinians any compassion or guarantee of common, basic human justice and equality?

SAME AS IT EVER WAS, SAME AS IT EVER WAS, ONCE IN A LIFETIME

The on-going human indignities occurring in Israel in 2021 are no different than so many other ugly scenes from a century or two ago, up to the present day, in the United States where Black, Brown Asian Americans and Native Americans still find themselves in the same predicament. As in American history, it’s now Israel’s turn, as America’s proxy in the Middle East, to call itself “a democracy”, yet act as nothing more than just another giddy apartheid regime that has goneberserk over its power to achieve near total control of the entire area between the Jordon River and the Mediterranean Sea?

Heartbreaking, terrifying, reprehensible violence, intended to unequivocally assert Jewish Zionist-American-Christian supremacy in the region, will still reign supreme as: airstrikes employing the latest in tactical aerial bombardment payloads, again courtesy of American taxpayer monies, are strategically dropped in residential areas on buildings that house Hamas political leaders or Arab and world media outlets alike; or dropped on the heads of journalists who attempt to tell the world the truth of what actually is going on in their midst in Gaza, or the West Bank, and blocked or censured at every turn with cunning misinformation and disinformation; while stun grenades, again courtesy of American taxpayers monies and American arms manufacturers, continue to be hurled into crowds of protesting Palestinian youth or those peacefully-praying in their mosques; while Israeli citizen-soldiers, called back from their peaceful, sheltered and protected lives; supremely confident that their Israeli commanders and Likud Party henchmen-will cover for them to continue to uphold an apartheid system that worldwide bought-out corporate media will ensure remains all but invisible to the outside world.

In the end, after all the latest violence has subsided, the cease fire holds this time for however long, and Palestinians can crawl from out of the rubble of their lives, if one can call their existence ‘lives’ that shouldn’t be wished upon one’s worst enemies, the Jews will return, virtually unscathed, to reclaim their white privileged lifestyles in neighborhoods formerly inhabited by Palestinians, who instead will have now been even further reduced to homeless refugees in their own lands, forced to take up residency in one of the Jews new ‘stalag compounds’, or Bantustan ghettos, forever pinned down by the military  jackboots of their oppressors.

Every monstrous act has been, and will simply continue to be logged, for whatever it’s worth, in the compendium of Akashic records to be found written somewhere in The Book of Life on the astral plane of things, to be forever remembered, for whatever its worth, as yet another major disgrace and failing of the human species.

Yet, once upon a more hopeful time, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights proclaimed, in 1948, that “It is essential, if man is not compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, their human rights should be protected”.

But who exactly is it this time around who will now ensure justice and quality of life for the Palestinians, with the same rights as the Jews to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, with the freedom to learn, dream and love as is the desire in life for every human being? Will it be U.S. President Biden, by some measures, a two-faced Cheshire Cat politician whose alliance with Israeli Zionism goes back to the beginning of his political career? Or will it be a re-elected PM Benjamin Netanyahu, a former elite IDF commando, resolute hard-liner, who is about to stand trial in a Jerusalem District Court for bribery. Fraud and breach of trust or not very likely, but with some great good luck and good will, may even stand trial for apartheid crimes against humanity by the United Nation’s International Criminal Court of Justice (ICC)? Or, perhaps, Israel’s new leader will be Ben Gvir, a lawyer notorious for his anti-Palestinian rhetoric, who is a disciple of the late racist rabbi Meir Kahane, a violent anti-Arab once considered so repugnant that even Israel banned him from Israel’s Knesset parliament? Or maybe it may even be Moshe Ya’alon, a staunch opponent of the two-state solution, much beloved in what some call the right-wing Likud Party’s Sudentenin Occupied Palestine; where Palestinians are especially targeted and all but banned. Meanwhile, the results of any vote may have to await the outcome of whatever Israeli-Palestinian Civil War bloodbath, any ceasefire notwithstanding, that, sooner or later, may still lie somewhere just around the corner.

In spite of the just declared ceasefire in Gaza, and much-hoped for “quiet and security”, yet to be mediated by the Egyptian government, one can be assured that the Jewish and American Zionist leopards won’t ever fundamentally change their spots. Israel’s apartheid government will continue to brutalize the Palestinians trapped in their prison camp compounds wherever throughout Occupied Palestine.

No matter what may eventually be resolved, Netanyahu, his Likud Party, U.S. President Biden, his Democratic administration, their rabid supporters in the U.S. Congress, on both sides of the aisle, will never be able to wash off the  blood they have on their hands over the debacle that for years they’ve continued to allow to unfold towards the Palestinian peoples and whatever ultimate horrible end, that no one yet knows for sure but can already imagine, will come to pass unless the United Nation’s International Criminal Court of Justice is able to charge Israel and a number of guilty parties involved with Apartheid & Crimes Against Humanity.

The cold truth of the matter at this point is that Israel, as the American Empire’s proxy empire in the Middle East, wouldn’t remotely be committing the atrocious crimes against humanity it has perpetrated in the past, present or will in the future against innocent Palestinian men, women and children, WITHOUT always first receiving a green light from whatever U.S. President and his or her Washington right-wing clique. A reminder of that reality is the fact that President Biden and America’s initial veto to block a vote in the U.N. Security Council to immediately invoke a cease fire could have spared the precious lives of so many innocents, now dead, that nothing can ever bring them back. All those innocent children who might have one day grown up to become world-renown scientists, artists, performers or thinkers who will never be known. Such an outrage to human dignity, truth and justice. For shame!

The song “If I had a Rocket Launcher”, sung by Bruce Cockburn ( Bruce Cockburn – If I Had A Rocket Launcher (Live 8 2005) – YouTube ) one of Canada’s great humanists, is dedicated here to all those around the world who anguish over the human travesty that continues to unfold in places like Gaza in Occupied Palestinian Territories, and downtrodden peoples everywhere else in the world; so needlessly continue to die or still will before their normal time because of Israel and American Zionism’s never-ending aggression. The lyrics of yet another relevant Cockburn song to be cited here is his Stolen Lands, whose lines cry out for “Stolen Lands and we can’t forget, Stolen Lands and we Never Forget, Stolen Lands and we’re not through yet.”(stolen land brucecockburn – YouTube)

THE ZIONIST TAKEOVER OF PALESTINE IN 1948 WAS A SHOTGUN WEDDING

The forced union between the world’s diaspora of Jewry and indigenous Palestinians in 1948 could only have ended as it first began: a contrived shotgun wedding between two disparate peoples, with the one coerced into hopelessly trying to live together with the other. How this hostile union between Zionist colonizer-settlers and indigenous Palestinians has since progressed in 2021, and its eventual outcome, is all but sadly predictable.

Following the end of WWII, the world was simply vexed and guilt-ridden about how to address the diaspora of Jewry that had been created by the Nazi’s master extermination plan for them. But the awkward, unnatural way that Palestinians were expected to accept this artificial merger with little say in the matter, was the problem from the outset, and ever since has been severely aggravated by the Zionist’s own aggressive philosophical, political, religious, military master plan for the eventual takeover of the entire region from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River.

Zionist planners and strategists, as if taking a page out of the Nazi’s playbook itself, had long been planning their takeover for decades, meticulously gathering sociometric data about Palestinian society, its key figures and governmental infrastructure in every Palestinian city, town and hamlet who would have to be summarily dealt with in their methodical plan to supplant and remove them by whatever means necessary.

When the British, Americans and United Nation authorities finally gave them the green light in 1948 the Zionists already were well-prepared to implement their blitzkrieg of Palestine, as if they were a well-oiled, disciplined army of infiltrators, terrorists and occupiers.

In 2021, as the world stands poised in the middle of a critical moment of ceasefire, ‘marriage counsellors’ ply their trade between Palestinians and Jewish settlers, shuttling back and forth between the bizarre shotgun marriage that, back in 1948, Western countries like  Britain, America and others had a hand in bringing about, yet were totally ignorant of what they actually were doing by forcing into close proximity with one another two more diametrically-different and opposed cultural, religious and political peoples as the indigenous Arab Palestinians and displaced Jewish settler-refugees of the Jewish Diaspora; onto a relatively tiny Middle East region as Palestine, where people practically live cheek by jowl with one another. It couldn’t work then and it certainly couldn’t work now, as the constant cultural, religious and military hostilities have repeatedly shown over and over again.

EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL OR A PERPETUAL ONE UP, ONE DOWN REALITY FOREVER

The question now is what to do about the hopeless disaster that life has become as things now stand between Israel and the Occupied Territories. How is the world to help two peoples, two cultures, two societies, undergo some form of ‘marriage counselling’ while they are in the midst: of a loveless marriage that has existed for seven decades; while barely able to stand each other’s presence, don’t trust each other, are totally estranged, yet have been stuck with one another with nowhere else to go, and; are trying to avoid a messy logistically land re-settlement, and division between them on all their contested lands, properties and possessions?

How are they together, or separately, now to create one single, or two portioned, countries in that divisive atmosphere, that both are willing to accept; where they both will have the freedom to move through their mutual country or countries; with full citizenship rights, voting rights and a willingness to allow both sides equal control of the entire region, including the Gaza Strip?

But this would mean that privileged Jewish citizens in the presently-constituted Jewish State would have to accept all Palestinians, including those in the Gaza Strip, as equal full citizens who would be in the majority and Jewish settlers and their religion would be in the minority.

The Jewish Parliament and PLO would also have to either be dissolved or re-constituted along with Israel’s IDF security forces. Palestinian areas of Occupied Palestine would also need a new kind of autonomy within the Jewish State and control of the internal borders between Palestinian and Jewish settlements; with Palestinian and Jewish settlers able to share each other’s beaches, whether in Tel Aviv or Gaza Strip; or live as mutual residents in semi-autonomous enclavesin East Jerusalem, yet also share Jerusalem as their national capitol, and; Palestinians, as simultaneous citizens of an autonomous Palestinian State and Jewish State can live in either region, with an open border between them and  full freedom of movement and civil rights as Israeli citizens. But if the Zionists won’t accept any of these alternatives, what then?

WHAT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EVERY HUMAN AT THIS JUNCTURE OF TIME &SPACE

What the long-standing life and death struggle between Israel, America and the Biblical Jewish-Christian struggle over Jerusalem has really all been about ever since, and especially for these times, and what the fate of the Palestinians should now mean to each and every human being on earth at this critical juncture and in the future, is reflected in a closing passage of a recent article by the writer Umair Haque (“How Our Societies are Turning Sociopathic”, Medium Daily Digest, 05/18/21). Haque suggests what the plight of the Palestinians should mean to each and every one at this most critical momentous juncture in time and space, when he writes:

We are orphans, on a mote of dust, spinning through the eternal darkness. We are starlight, specks of fire, one spring day. And then we are gone. Let us hold one another, until the heavens come down. We are all we have. That is what it means to be human, alive, aware, true, here. now. Anything less than the recognition of the terrible, beautiful pain of the universal human condition, I’ve come to believe, has something of the sociopath in it. I am not above you. You are not above me. We all are all we have. I hold you in everything I do.

What personal actions we each now decide to take during this latest ceasefire respite is up to each and every one of us. Perhaps the very fate of the Human Race depends upon it.

Historically-Relevant Israeli Palestinian Conflict Quotes

“I am frequently asked if I have visited Israel, whereas yet, it is simply assumed that I have. Well, I don’t travel. I really don’t, and if I did, I probably wouldn’t visit Israel. I remember how it was in 1948 when Israel was being established and all my Jewish friends were ecstatic, I was not. I said: what are we doing? We are establishing ourselves in a ghetto, in a small corner of a vast Muslim sea. The Muslims will never forget nor forgive, and Israel, as long as it exists, will be embattled. I was laughed at, but I was right. I can’t help but feel that the Jews didn’t really have the right to appropriate a territory only because 2000 years ago, people they consider their ancestors, were living there. History moves on and you can’t really turn it back. ― Isaac Asimov, Asimov Laughs Again: More Than 700 Jokes, Limericks and Anecdotes

The original Zionist slogan—’a land without a people for a people without a land’—disclosed its own negation when I first saw the densely populated Arab towns dwelling sullenly under Jewish tutelage. You want irony? How about Jews becoming colonizers at just the moment when other Europeans had given up on the idea?….Perhaps partly for this reason, I have never been able to see Zionism as a cure for it….If all of world Jewry did settle in Palestine, this would actually necessitate further Israeli expansion, expulsion, and colonization…… Israeli Jews area part of the diaspora, not a group that has escaped from it. Why else does Israel daily beseech the often-flourishing Jews of other lands, urging them to help the most endangered Jews of all: the ones who rule Palestine by force of arms?….You can’t have occupation and human rights….The whole scheme is unrealizable in ‘Judaea and Samaria,’ let alone in Gaza or Sinai……On this reckoning, Zionism must constitute one of the greatest potential non sequiturs in human history…..I once went to interview some of those early Jewish colonial zealots—written off in those days as mere ‘fringe’ elements—and found that they called themselves Gush Emunim (‘The Bloc of the Faithful.’) Why not just say ‘Party of God’ and have done with it? At least they didn’t have the nerve to say that they stole other people’s land because their own home in Poland or Belarus had been taken from them…..When I asked one of them where he got his legal authority to be a squatter, he flung his hand, index finger outstretched, toward the sky….So here we have found a means of a) alienating even the most flexible and patient Palestinians; while b) frustrating the efforts of the more principled and compromising Israelis, while; c) empowering and financing some of the creepiest forces in American and Israeli society; and d) heap ordure on our own secular founding documents. When will the Justice Department and the Congress and the Supreme Court become aware of this huge and rank offense, which is designed to bring us ever nearer to holy war?….I am not one of those who believes that a solution to the Palestinian statehood question would bring an end to Muslim resentment against the United States…It is more a simple case that justice—and a homeland for the Palestinians—is a good and necessary cause in its own right. It is also a special legal and moral responsibility of the United States, which has several times declared a dual-statehood outcome to be its objective.” Christopher Hitchens, Hitch 22: A Memoir

“People who call themselves supporters of Israel are actually supporters of its moral degeneration and ultimate destruction….Israel has been turned into a militarized state completely dependent on US aid. For Israel, this is a moral disaster and will eventually become a physical disaster as well. For the Palestinians it has been a catastrophe, as it may sooner or later be for the entire world.”  Noam Chomsky, Gaza in Crisis: Reflections on Israel’s War Against the Palestinians

“If every single Jew born anywhere in the world has the right to become an Israeli citizen, then all the Palestinians who were chucked out of Palestine by the Zionist Government should have the same right, very simple.”― Tariq Ali

“Goldstone has done terrible damage to the cause of truth and justice and the rule of law. He has poisoned Jewish-Palestinian relations, undermined the courageous work of Israeli dissenters and—most unforgivably—increased the risk of another merciless IDF assault.”

― Norman G. Finkelstein, Goldstone Recants: Richard Goldstone Renews Israel’s License to Kill

“Now for a good twelve-hour sleep, I told myself. Twelve solid hours. Let birds sing, let people go to work. Somewhere out there, a volcano might blow, Israeli commandos might decimate a Palestinian village. I couldn’t stop it. I was going to sleep.”

― Haruki Murakami, Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World

“The custom to put others in the line of fire is a recurring theme in Judaism. It boils down to the Levite Korahites’ willingness to sacrifice their ordinary Jewish subjects in order to ensure their own survival. This should be a historic warning to modern-day Israelites: their orthodox government would not hesitate to risk the lives of the many for the sake of the survival of the few in the orthodox elite. The citizens of Israel will have to think about how to remove the systemic threat that comes from within their own ranks.” A.J. Deu

“Sonnet of Occupation”

With just weeks of lockdown,

You all feel restless and bland.

That is how everyday life is,

For people in occupied land.

Imagine living your whole life,

Subject to restriction and suspicion.

Ask a Palestinian or a Kashmiri,

They’ll reveal the face of occupation.

Life, liberty and happiness,

Are the rights of every being.

Whenever a government violates them,

Civilized humanity must intervene.

I call to all humans far and near,

Rest not till statehood is declared.”

“Occupation has no place in a civilized society. It is time Palestine redeemed freedom from Israeli occupation, Scotland from British occupation, and Jammu and Kashmir from Indian occupation.” Abhijit Naskar, Hometown Human: To Live for Soil and Society

“Some say that this is the Israelis’ original sin. With this I do not agree but I think we can call it Israel’s immaculate misconception.”Avishai Margalit
