LANDI KOTAL: District administration in collaboration of Police has initiated a massive operation has been initiated in Khyber in wake of corona pandemic.
Talking to media persons on his visit to Landi Kotal on Thursday, District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Iqbal said that eight quarantine centers had been established that had accommodated 1361 persons comprising, 253 children, 204 female and 902 male. All the quarantined persons were Pakistani citizens who had come back from Afghanistan, across the border.
Three villages of local COVID 19 patients in Landi Kotal i.e. Shiekhmal Khel, Piro Khel and Azgho Mela had been quarantined to reduce threat of coronavirus, he added and saying 400 police personnel had been deployed at the centers to halt spread of coronavirus. DPO, Khyber said that on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan relaxation were made in Landi Kotal bazaar to facilitate the masses to complete their shopping of daily commodities.
He maintained that a joint meeting of district administration, police and local religious scholars and prayer leaders was schedule to be held at Khyber house on Thursday evening, Peshawar where the Ulemas would be persuaded to follow Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) approved by the federal government for the offering of Taraweeh prayer during the Fasting. Earlier, the DPO, Khyber visited various quarantined centers, located at government degree college, government high school and headquarter hospital, Landi Kotal and examined security measures provided by the police officials. Later on, the Khyber DPO paid a visit to Landi Kotal press club and met with local journalists.
