Met Office forecasts hot and dry weather for most parts of country

ISLAMABAD: It is extremely hot and dry in most parts of the country, particularly in the plains of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), on Monday.

Although some parts of central and upper Punjab have received rain during the last 48 hours, the weather in these areas is still hot.  

It was quite hot in Lahore in the morning as the temperature shot up to 36 degrees Celsius, while it is expected to remain 42 degrees Celsius on the maximum side.

Despite rain in the central Punjab city of Jhang couple of days ago, the heat is still there. 

According to the weather department, the temperature will shoot up to 42 degrees Celsius later in the day, while there is no chance of rain in the city and its surrounding areas during the next 24 hours. 

As has been the case for the last several days, it is extremely hot and dry in the southern Punjab city of Multan and its suburbs while the Met Office has predicted no change in the weather during the next 24 hours. Hot winds will blow throughout the day.

The humidity level in the city in the morning was recorded at 51 per cent. 

On the contrary, the weather has turned pleasant in Faisalabad and its outskirts following rainstorm a day before yesterday (Saturday, June 11, 2022).

Cool breeze was blowing in the city early in the morning.

The Met Office, on the other hand, has forecast that temperature will rise in the afternoon and is expected to touch 42 degrees Celsius.

No rain has been forecast during the next 24 hours.  

It will remain cloudy in Dera Ghazi Khan today, while the maximum temperature is expected to go up to 42 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. 

Minimum temperature was recorded at 32 degrees Celsius, while the humidity level stood at 45 per cent. 

It was cloudy and breezy in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) capital of Muzaffarabad in the morning, which provided an opportunity to both the tourists and locals to enjoy.

Light rain has also been reported from some of the suburban areas of the AJK capital.   

The weather department has forecast extremely hot and dry weather for most parts of the country during the next 24 hours.

It has said that although the weather will remain hot in Islamabad during the day, there are chances of dust-raising winds blowing either in the evening or at night.

The department has not ruled out the possibility of rain in some areas of the federal capital.

While it will remain hot and dry in the plains of Punjab, Potohar region, Narowal, Bhakkar, Sialkot and Lahore may receive rain, accompanied by strong winds, either in the evening or at night.

The department has forecast dust-raising winds for Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan.

It will remain hot and sunny in the plains of KP during the next 24 hours. However, rain and strong winds have been predicted for Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Buner and Abbottabad.

Similarly, barring southern areas of Sindh such as Nangarparkar and Islamkot where rain is expected, it will remain extremely hot in most parts of the province. 

Rain and strong winds may lash Khuzdar, Kalat, Barkhan, Lasbela and Awaran in Balochistan later in the afternoon.

The weather will remain cloudy in Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK during the next 24 hours, while rain has also been forecast for some areas of the region.
