‘Millions of children deprived of education’

KABUL (Khaama Press): According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Taliban denied millions of children of an education.
The UNHCR Deputy High Commissioner, Kelly Clements, traveled to Afghanistan and stated during a visit to a school in Herat province that the majority of the children without the right to education were girls.
Following the visit, she stated that education is a natural right of children and one of society’s most pressing needs.
Kelly Clements further said that women in Afghanistan are actively participating in economic development and therefore should be in positions of leadership.
The UN official made the remarks as women were increasingly isolated and are marginalized after the Taliban took power, with the Taliban prohibiting women from engaging in public, cultural, artistic, and political activities.
Even the Taliban have imposed limitations on women, depriving them of an education, and female employees have been terminated or resigned, forcing them to stay at home.
