NAB rearrests Pervaiz Elahi after his release from Adiala Jail

LAHORE: A local court has accepted one-day transit remand of former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

Elahi was produced in the court of Duty Magistrate Khalid Hayat in Rawalpindi on Monday (a public holiday on account of Independence Day).

The NAB prosecution team presented arguments on the PTI leader’s transit remand in the court.

Elahi was arrested by the Lahore police soon after his release from Rawalpindi Adiala Jail today.

Earlier, a team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore rearrested former Punjab chief minister after his release from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi and was taken him to the Rawalpindi sessions court for transit remand.

Elahi will be shifted to Lahore after the grant of his transit remand.

Elahi was released from Adiala Jail on the expiry of his detention orders.

It is to be noted here that the former Punjab chief minister has been serving in prison following his arrest in cases of corruption.
