LAHORE: Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz, sons of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif, have touched down in Lahore following the suspension of their arrest warrants by an accountability court.

Sources who belong to the inner circle of Sharif family told The Frontier Post (TFP) Nawaz welcomed his sons at the Jati Umrah residence upon their arrival.

Last week, an accountability court, presided over by Judge Nasir Javed Rana, made the decision to suspend the arrest warrants of Hasan and Hussain in the Al-Azizia, Flagship, and Avenfield cases. The warrants will remain suspended until March 14, according to the verdict.

The warrants were issued seven years ago when the court declared them absconders.

During the hearing of the Toshakhana reference filed against Nawaz, Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, and former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, their lawyer Qazi Misbah filed a plea seeking the suspension of the warrants, as both brothers intended to return to Pakistan on March 12.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutors Sardar Muzaffar, Usman Masood, and Sohail Arif also appeared in court.

Arif, representing NAB, emphasized the necessity for the accused to appear in court as per the law. He stated that the purpose of the arrest warrant is to bring the accused to court, asserting that both brothers should be granted the opportunity to appear before the accountability court.

Following arguments from both sides, the accountability court reserved its decision on the petitions.
