TIMERGARA: Prominent religious scholar Mufti SajjadulHijabi on Wednesday said that religious seminaries registered with the Wifaqul Madaris were working according to laws of the country and there was no need to bring changes in their syllabuses.
He was addressing a ‘Dastar Bandi’ function of Madrasa Arabia Safroono at Gulabad here as chief guest. The function was attended by students and teachers of seminaries, area elders and parents. Other speakers included Maulana Muhammad Azam of Karachi, MaulanaArshad Ali, Maulana Imran Haqqani and others.
Mufti Hijabi termed the government plan to change syllabus of seminaries as a conspiracy and said that those seminaries were the real fortresses of Islam from where Islamic scholars, religious teachers and prayer leaders were graduated. He said that peace, brotherhood, patriotism and humanity were the basic massages of Islam. He rejected the concept that seminaries were promoting violence, militancy and sectarianism. “There is no concept of sectarianism in Islam and we strongly condemn it,” Mufti Hijabi said, adding that students of religion from USA, Europe and Africa came to Pakistan for education. He said that students of contemporary studies from Pakistan were going abroad for getting education as no Pakistani university was included in the top 500 world universities. Students of Nazira Qur’an were turbaned on the occasion.
