Online business scam: PHC orders NAB submit reply for enlisting in ECL

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court (PHC) comprising of Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Waqar Ahmad ordered National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for submission of reply regarding enlisting of tribesman named Haroon Khan resident of Landi Kotal in Exit Control List (ECL), on Wednesday.

The counsel Danyal Asad Chamkani advocate argued that Haroon Khan had invested Rs1.5 million in online business but the company had closed its offices and looted millions of rupees from public while escaped from the market.

The petitioner had approached Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for actions against the company, the counsel stated. He added that applicant had also filed 22A plea after closure of the matter by FIA.

In the meantime, other victims of the company filed complaint at NAB and initiated inquiry in 2021 while including petitioner in the probe and enlisted Haroon Khan in ECL in 2023, the lawyer argued.

The petitioner is employed at Dubai while his original passport, mobile and visa is confiscated by immigration’s official, the lawyer added. He argued that the petitioner had filed review before Ministry of Interior but to no veil, so approached PHC in the writ jurisdiction.

The counsel Danyal Asad Chamkani advocate argued for removal of petitioner’s name from ECL as it was enlisted against the law and unconstitutionally. He also pleaded to directed NAB for returning of original passport, I-Phone mobile and United Emirate Visa to the petitioner.

PHC’s divisional bench comprising of Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Waqar ordered NAB for submission of reply after conclusion of arguments while adjourned further hearings.

MNA approaches PHC against enlisting in PNIL

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Member National Assembly Asif Khan approached PHC against enlisting his name in Provisional National Identification List (PNIL) in writ plea.

The counsel Syed Sikandar Hayat Shah advocate filed the plea in which federal government along with FIA had made respondents while arguing for removal of MNA name from PNIL as he is going abroad.
