F.P. Report

NAUSHKI: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday announced 15 percent raise in the salaries of Rangers and FC jawans, saying Pakistan Army’s fight against terrorists was unmatchable.

Addressing the security forces jawans in Naushki, Imran Khan said the terrorists were being funded from abroad.

“Our military saved people from terrorism as jawans did not let terrorists enter the cities,” he added.

“The entire nation stands by you,” PM Imran said, adding no government had spent so much funds on Balochistan than the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government.

He told the gathering that the government was going to build a highway that would connect Chaman to Quetta and Quetta to Karachi. “We are especially focusing on the uplift of people of Balochistan,” he said, and added that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would benefit people of the province the most.

“The more the government earns from the projects to be launched under the CPEC, the more will it spend on the betterment of the people,” he announced.

The prime minister reiterated that the entire world was in the grip of inflation, and Pakistan was no exception. “However, we will take steps to ensure that people’s income could be increased,” he vowed.

He claimed that the government had collected record tax.

He went on to add that China was lending complete assistance to Pakistan in the agriculture sector.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived in Naushki to spend the whole day with troops.

PM Khan and COAS were in Naushki in a bid to boost the morale of the Pakistani security forces who made great sacrifices during the latest clean-up operation in Balochistan.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain confirmed that the prime minister and the army chief will spend the day with security forces in Balochistan. The federal cabinet meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled, the minister added.

“The security personnel having determination higher than the mountains and spirits wider than the oceans are our pride,” the minister said, adding these sons of the soil were always ready to defend the motherland.

Later COAS and the prime minister will be given a comprehensive briefing and will also interact with local tribal elders, the ISPR statement added.

It may be mentioned here that a few days ago armed terrorists had attacked two security posts in the Panjgur and Naushki districts of Balochistan.

In Naushki, nine terrorists were killed while four security personnel including an officer embraced shahadat during the shootout with terrorists while repulsing the attack.

In Panjgur, security forces repulsed the terrorist attack after intense exchange of fire and terrorists fled the area. Security forces carried out clearance operation to hunt down hiding terrorists in the vicinity.

As a result, Pakistan forces launched a clean-up operation. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations statement, 20 terrorists were killed during the operations while nine security personnel embraced martyrdom.
