PML-N: ECP justified to refuse election symbol to PTI

F.P. Report

LAHORE: A Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader has said that the Election Commission of Pakistan is justified in refusing the election symbol to the Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf after the intra-party elections of the PTI were declared null and void.

Addressing the media in Lahore on Saturday, PML-N leader Malik Ahmad Khan said that yesterday the ECP declared the intra-party elections of the PTI null and void. He wondered if a party’s internal elections were declared invalid, how could the Election Commission allot an election symbol to it?

He rued that the ECP just voided the PTI intra-party election but did not ban the party so far.

He also criticized the Supreme Court decision in the cipher case yesterday. He said the previous government did politics based on the cipher. He said Qasim Suri sat on the deputy speaker’s chair, waved a sealed envelope, and said that he was going to send this letter to the chief justice.

The PML-N leader said that the President, too, dissolved the National Assembly immediately.

Malik Ahmad Khan said that Tehreek-e-Insaf has a great fascination with sealed envelopes. He said former PM principal Azam Khan is facing a case of audio leaks.

The PML-N leader accused PTI founder Imran Khan of planning the May 9 riots. The vandals who took part in the May 9 violence were not political workers, they were trained goons, he added.
