PML-Q leaders appear before NAB in assets case

LAHORE: Leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Friday appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a case related to their wealth.

The case was registered against the Chaudhry brothers 12 years in the before the tenure of General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, who is close ally of Chaudhry cousins.

Both the PML-Q leaders submitted answers comprising 50 questions to a NAB team and the questions were related the details of purchase and sale of their properties.

Earlier, the NAB contacted the Deputy Commissioner Lahore and Gujranwala to seek details of the assets of Chaudhry Shujjat and Pervez Elahi and those details would now be matched with the answers submitted by the PML-Q leaders.

Shujaat briefly remained prime minister of Pakistan in 2004 while his cousin, Elahi, was chief minister of Punjab from 2002 to 2007.

Before joining Gen (retd) Musharraf’s government, they were associated with PML-Nawaz.
