President Ghani undergoes prostate operation

KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani says he has undergone prostate operation at the Shahid Sardar Mohammad Dawood Khan Hospital in Kabul. The president tweeted doctors successfully operated upon him for a prostate disease. He thanked the doctors and medical staff of the hospital.

The presidential Palace has shared images of the president, who appeared to be in stable condition, reading a book after the surgery. But it remains unclear how long the president had been suffering from the prostate disease. Ghani is around 71 years of age. Reports claim prostate operations are conducted in Afghanistan usually through an abdominal surgery. Ghani underwent the operation in Afghanistan while ordinary Afghans go abroad for such surgeries.
